Although many consider Ng See-Yuen’s 1978 classic ‘Snake in Eagle’s Shadow to be the first Hong Kong martial arts film to combine Keaton-esque slapstick comedy with martial-arts, acclaimed director Wong-Tin Lam, then one of the foremost directors of Hong Kong cinema was the first director to do so with his 1969 film ‘Mad, Mad Mad Swords’.

Cathay regular Tien Ching stars in this landmark film as a young man who inherits a prestigous martial arts school when it’s founder dies. The only problem, he’s a slacker. When he unwittingly becomes the town hero after chasing away a group of thugs, he soon earns the attention of other martial arts schools who all seek to challenge him.
